This volume, volume IX of Masalah-masalah Iniernasional Masa-
kini, contains five articles giving an Asian — or better a Southeast
Asian perspective on Asian political developments.
The first article written by Dr. Pensri Duke of Chulalongkorn
University, deals with the big power rivalry and interest underlying
Thai-German relations at the end of the last century until the begin
ning of the present century; this is useful in understanding the pre
sent-day super and big power rivalry underlying political develop
ments in Southeast Asia.
