Since the outbreak of the crisis in 1997-1998, the Indonesian nation and state are being pressured from all directions, from above as a consequence of globalization as well as from below by the rise of parochialism and "localism" Indonesians need to go back to the drawing board, of re-defining the Indonesian nationhood by taking into account the new global realities and internal aspirations.
